Toad Prohibition!

World News: A man was 'lifted' for toad licking? Apparently the Missouri man had intentions on getting a 'high' from licking the toad's venom glands. He was arrested for the 'possession of an hallucinogenic toad'. How much street cred would that generate for our maladjusted street urchins?
"Ya got some shit bro"?
"Na but yo gets a lick o'me toad for fifty squid... It's well cool init"!

Ices High!

The driver of a Mister Softee ice cream truck was arrested yesterday on charges of selling cocaine and marijuana from his truck while it was parked outside a middle school in Queens, the police said (Source New York Times 04/08/2007). Brings a whole new meaning to the question, "do you want an 'ice' cream"?

Ice is the translucent crystal, smokeable form of methamphetamine. It is also commonly called glass or crystal and, like other stimulants, is highly addictive. The use of ice results in a longer, more intense high and an enhanced and more rapid onset of the negative effects of other forms of methamphetamine. A large proportion of all crime these days is drug related and, even in this sleepy neck of the woods we are not short of drug abuse and drug problems.
The savvy dealers from the North East have been canvasing and supplying outside schools for some time now. Obviously the sooner they get the little treasures hooked the better their customer base. I wonder how long before this sales pitch is adopted in the UK?

Police in India are desperately seeking geeks to help them fight cyber crime....

Officers in Chandigarh, in the Punjab region, plan to recruit a team of computer savvy nerds. A senior Punjab officer told the Times of India: "Geeks will be the masters and act as the real super cops in the virtual world."... Source

S M Sharma, head of the Pubjab Police Computer and Telecommunication department, said he was reacting to a dramatic increase in online crime across India."It will be easier to outsource nerds to do the job as it is probably easier to train technology experts to become investigators, than vice-versa"

Once hired the police geeks will also be used to train cops who currently “can't tell a laptop from a PC” Surprise!
Perhaps this will take off (has taken off) in the UK? How about outsourcing policing services to crooks? Anything is possible with this government!
