World News: A man was 'lifted' for toad licking? Apparently the Missouri man had intentions on getting a 'high' from licking the toad's venom glands. He was arrested for the 'possession of an hallucinogenic toad'. How much street cred would that generate for our maladjusted street urchins?

Yob Culture

'A spate of assaults and killings has added to the mood of a society unravelling - and often alcohol is to blame'. The Guardian

Last Friday night Andy Holland 16yrs, was stabbed in the neck in his local takeaway in Greater Manchester and died shortly afterwards in hospital. He is the latest statistic in a spate of recent murders and serious assaults across the Country. Our society is increasingly uneasy about Britain's Yob Culture. And rightly so but, what is to be done to curb the rise in horrific violence?

The government consistently tries to refute claims that 'it is losing the fight on law and order' but they would. Anecdotal evidence suggests the liberalisation of the drinking laws may be the cause? I have to disagree. We have some of the most stringent laws in any western civilisation. Strict regulation of drugs and other forms of substance abuse, along with the highest taxes and control of legal substances such as tobacco and alcohol hasn't made the slightest impression on Yob Culture, neither is it likely to!

Tony Blair's 'respect agenda' introduced the ASBO to try and curb Anti Social Behaviour but Home Office statistics show 55 per cent of the orders are breached. Research by the Youth Justice Board also found some under-18s regard an ASBO as a badge of honour! The Liberal Democrats' culture spokesman, Don Foster is right to say "the government is burying its head in the sand".

How long will the streets of Britain continue to be the hunting ground of feral and violent youth? It will continue until the police are allowed to police, instead of chasing government figures. Until our society supports teachers when they discipline our kids at school. Until parents teach their children right from wrong and accept responsibility for their actions. It will continue as long as we give more rights to the wrong doer than we do to the victim. In short it will not stop until we change the outlook of society, the people that turn their eye from the problem until it affects them as individuals!

Don't 'ave a go... Tell the police!

News broadcasts today gave coverage to the 'new' Home Office advice which has been offered to citizens on the subject of tackling ASB, they suggest... Don't 'ave a go yourself - Contact the Police!

Good stuff, we don't want a nation of vigilante individuals trying to intervene in booze fuelled crime, brawls and violent disorder, do we? The undoubted consequence for our colleagues in the Ambulance Service would be spending all their time conveying well meaning citizens to the local A&E! And, unfortunately not all of these good citizens are likely to even be that lucky, as the media have also reported this week. Well said Home Office, people should leave it to the police!

Excuse me Madam Home Secretary; will that be the same police who struggle to supply adequate and efficient 24/7 response to public demand. You know, the ones who are stymied and crippled by the bureaucracy and bean counting target chasing mentality thrust upon them by your ill informed interfering predecessors and leaders? The ones that you want to put their lives at risk to clean up the refuse of society? The ones your government believe are winging lazy and over paid... Just so we know?

Condemnation of 'chav-hunt' spoof

One of Scotland's top private schools has condemned a video which showed ex-pupils staging a mock "chav hunt". "Class Wars" was posted on the Internet site YouTube by former students at Glenalmond College, near Perth. The film showed teenagers wearing shell suits being chased by classmates dressed as aristocrats. Apparently the school is up in arms about the posting describing the spoof as "deeply offensive" and arguing that it "did not reflect the ethos at the school"? Despite having the actual video removed from the site after managing to contact the person(s) responsible, there is now news footage available which depicts the crux of the story anyway! As the video does not 'reflect their ethos' I wonder how many Chavs are actually pupils there? And, what success this fine establishment is having providing them with an education? If their Academic achievements are all they are purported to be, perhaps Chavs should be sent there instead of receiving an ASBO? Maybe then we would start to reverse their trend for anti social behaviour and offending?

Chav Scum?

Like many other areas of this green and pleasent land, even the rural parts are now suffering from the phenomenon which is, The Great British Chav. I decided to do some research about the little darlings...

'Chavs' otherwise known as; Hoodies, Neds, Townies, Kevs, Charvers, Steeks, Spides, Bazzas, Yarcos, Ratboys, Skangers, Scutters, Janners, Stigs, Scallies, Hood Rats, are Britain's peasant underclass that are taking over our towns and cities, according to the www.chavscum.co.uk website.

I suspect this site started out with the intention of maligning the phenomenon however, it appears, due to their limited intellect, many revel in the personal notoriety that comes when their photographs are published on the site? In some way they honestly believe that being famous for being a knob, is just as successful and important as being a famous pop star? They may well be right!

The website aims to make everyone aware of the Chav, what they get up to and make people wise up to the fact they are not our ‘poor misunderstood and disaffected youth, they are the underclass of Britain. Some people dislike this website and say it is racist and so on, but Chavs haven't exactly made a good name for themselves, have they?

Mostly hated by everyone apart from themselves Chavs are elements of our society who aspire to leave school before they are 16, have kids before 17 and annoy as many people as they can on the way to being someone important. The problem here is, many can’t even read a picture book, let alone write a job application. Consequently, many of them turn to crime to finance their designer lifestyle aspirations!

Under a headline of Yobs risk flood victims’ lives (The Sun), a reader wrote; is this a disgrace? Yes. Is it surprising? No. The fact is that decent people in this country are being overtaken by the one brain celled Neanderthal Chav scum who seem to exist only to hump each other and produce equally or even more repellent ******* children. And it isn't just the kids either. A couple of weeks ago I went to a concert in Wembley stadium by coach trip, surrounded by 5 blokes who proceeded to have conversations mostly based around calling each other "******* ***** or "****, for 8 hours or so and thinking this was appropriate social behaviour on a long journey with several kids in earshot. I am all for Euthanasia and mandatory birth control for filth like this.

And all that from a Sun reader, there may be hope for society yet!

I also found an interesting article by a lady called Imogen Tyler entitled; 'Chav Scum, The Filthy Politics of Social Class in Contemporary Britain' which is worthy of a read if you want to further your education on the subject? In it she suggests that the term Chav is a form of political and social disgust in a class that is suggested to be “lower than human or civil life”. I believe she is suggesting that normal society may in some way be responsible for this under class however, at present I have to agree in many ways with the coment in bold.

Police Chief Hits At Drinks Culture

In the aftermath of a man being kicked to death, The Chief Constable of Cheshire Peter Fahy, has spoken out on the role of bad parenting and cheap alcohol in underage drinking... For some time now police and organisations such as Alcohol Concern (AC) have warned that under-age drinking has reached nightmare proportions, much of which can be attributed to trendy 'alcopops' and the proliferation of 'premium' beers. He went on to say that alcohol was fuelling a wave of violence and disorder across the country. Despite an increase in the number of police officers across the Country, this National problem is a constant drain on our resources.

One of the AC factsheets on youth drinking highlights the fact that; 'By the age of 13, the proportion of those who drink exceeds the proportion of teenagers who do not drink'. It goes on to say, 'There is an association between alcohol and crime or anti-social behaviour. 16% of school attendees, who had committed a crime, reported that they had been drinking prior to the crime'. For police officers this research only supports what we see on our streets and in city centers most nights of the week!

In a joint report by the charity UK Youth and the Drink Aware campaign into the youth drinking culture of Booze Britain it was highlighted that the dominant view amongst young people was, 'they drink to get drunk'. That is their sole purpose, it is not a bi product of social intervention, like many of us who have one too many. This has been graphically and widely highlighted in the TV series by the same name.

Drink Aware states that; '18 - 24 year old men drink more heavily than any other group' and that, '18 - 24 year old women are catching up with the men'. They go on to say that; 'Research from the US shows that the younger a person is when they start to drink, the greater their risk of alcohol-related problems later in life'. This however is mitigated by the fact that, if young people learn about and sample drink in a 'controlled environment' like the home, they are far less susceptible to alcohol problems in later life! Now we are back to the parenting issues that Peter Fahy eluded to.

And here's the rub... How are we ever going to break this dismal chain of events? So many of the parents today were no more then children themselves, with the same mentality and outlook on life when they actually became parents. A chicken & egg scenario with no easy answers!

So says Donna, the multi tattooed single mother of three (so far). She stood on the street corner, two kids in a 'designer' double buggy complete with it's Burberry patterned cover whilst the eldest boy (3ish) stuck chewing gum to the post office window and picked his nose. She continued... It's effing disgusting right, like loads of poxy noise right, can't get my kids to sleep on a night, housing asociation are crap, blah, blah, blah... She went on, if you don't get sumat done soon Troy (boyfriend) is gonna leave and I can't survive without his benefits to go with mine, we'd 'ave to sell the widescreen and cancel Sky!

The Nation is filling up with these charming ladies (pillars of their society). She stood there resplendent in her badger hairdo with her masses of tacky 'bling' and displaying a further bun in t'oven, between her crop top and Nike tracksuit skirt, more like a pelmet actually as it barely covered her enormous backside. She tottered about from one tangoed leg to the other, her feet squezed into her extremely high white stiletto shoes and I must say, I was having difficulty deciding if the frantic movement was due to her agitated state or the lack of comfort in her shoes. She continued yet again, I told Chantalle last night in t'club right (man I was hammered)... Don't suppose you found her bag yet? It's designer you know, Prado like and it had her iPod and mobi in it. Bastards, you can't leave anything these days! Any ways can't stand here all day like, need to go in the post office for me money. My mom's looking after the kids this weekend coz me and the girls are off to Prague for a Hen weekend, bet we get smashed. Like I'll be pissed off if we don't right... Catch you later!
